Being a Seasonal Lifeguard...
We are not only taking responsibility on life saving, the more is that we also need to help operating the public swimming pool by cleaning out some of the pool facilities and setting up the area of all the swimming competitions.
I love this job and it is interesting for me when I work as my hobby. I like swimming and life saving especially when I am using my strengths to help people. Actually, I've already participated in several times of rescue activities. It scared me for the first time when it just happened suddenly. But I also calm myself down and told myself that this was a real case. Then, I ran to the the scene of the incident. I felt my heartbeat was really fast at that moment. All of the training experience and memory just came out in my mind, and I realize that was the time to use and perform everything that I learnt.
However, I discover some operational problems on how LCSD managing a public swimming pool. Sometimes I've found that the manager was unintelligent because she always did things by following the unnecessary procedure. Although everything are in hurry, she still insisted on the ground rules. And what I think is she needs to be flexible on management. When there are things happen at the same time, what a manager needs to do is arranging the order of priority and lead the subordinates to work in their correct positions. But my manager was just being nervous and didn't know what to do. Then she called her supervisor and finally followed their general procedure.
Now, I realize the importance of experience and the necessary of being flexible as a manager.
